Tiger, Chipper and The Code

Tiger Woods failed to score any points in the Ryder Cup for Team USA;  Chipper Jones made a critical error in the one game baseball playoff which the Atlanta Braves lost.  Both men apologized to their teammates and took responsibility for the team loss.  While it is true that neither man was totally responsible for the team loss, it took courage to be willing to acknowledge that their effort played a significant role.  The Code says that “I will give my best effort…” which both men certainly did, but taking responsibility for their part displays most commendable character and integrity.
