Last week’s Tip had to do with the officiating problem in the NFL. If you didn’t read it, take a minute to read it.
The issue remains: what do we do when we find ourselves in games where the officiating is frustrating to us, and where we feel there are a lot of bad calls? What do we say to our players? Do we try to take advantage of the situation? The NFL players are talking about how they are trying to “see what they can get away with” – how do you respond to that? What control does the coach have over the players? How realistic is it to expect players to play by the letter and the spirit of the rules?
“I will compete within the letter and the spirit of the rules of my sport.”
