The Moment of Silence and The Code

The NFL took a moment of silence in their games Sunday to remember the victims in the Newtown shooting, their parents, families, and friends.  How is this reflected in the Code?  The Code says, “I will respect the dignity of every human being…”  The moment of silence was to show respect for each of those who died, by taking a deliberate moment of silence to honor them.   In addition, the fact that we wanted to do this, and are all affected by this tragedy reminds us, that ultimately we are all a part of one family, the human family.  The moment of silence binds us together; it also reminds us that we need each other, we really do, and that we have a responsibility for each other.  That responsibility is reflected in the Code: “I will give of my time, money and ability as I am able for the betterment of my community and world.”  What does that mean to you in this context?  Is there anything you can do?
