Beyonce and The Code

There is a lot of discussion about the fact that Beyonce lip-synched the National Anthem (and Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor sang live) at the Inauguration ceremonies.  What does the Code have to say about this?  We’re not sure any “rules” were broken, although one could talk about the “spirit and the letter” – is  lip-synching singing?  Most importantly, and the only reason we are discussing this – this is an example of how easily a person’s reputation can be damaged in unexpected ways.  The people who are upset about it (if anyone really is), are upset because of the deception involved.  No one wants to be deceived by another, because that is when trust is broken, and relationships sour.  Even the little innocent “lie” can have ramifications when discovered.  Have you ever been caught in such a situation?  It’s something to remember.
