Athletes for a Better World (ABW) has selected Sports Sponsorships and Events Consulting, LLC (SSEC) to lead sponsorship and sports marketing strategies on behalf of the national non-profit organization. ABW oversees and operates The Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup and the Vincent J. Dooley Awards & Scholarships. Both programs were developed to celebrate athletes and their accomplishments both on and off the field. SSEC is a leader in grassroots sports marketing and represents several national and regional sports properties. SSEC will be tasked with building and growing ABW’s key awards programs, plus its athletic character education book, as well as developing new activation vehicles and strategies for ABW corporate partners.

About the ABW Awards Programs: The Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup is presented to six distinguished athletes – one male and one female high school athlete, one male and one female collegiate athlete, and one male and one female professional athlete – who have made the greatest difference in the lives of others. The awards program is named after Coach John Wooden who is perhaps the greatest coach and most admired role model in the history of collegiate sports. In 2016, ABW partnered with the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association to expand the program to the high school level. Past award recipients include athletes like Mia Hamm, Tim Tebow, Cal Ripken Jr., Coach Pat Summitt, Drew Brees, Jack Nicklaus, and John Lynch, among others.
ABW enlisted the Georgia High School State Association as a strategic partner for The Vincent J. Dooley Awards & Scholarships program. Every high school across the state of Georgia selects one male and one female athlete each year who showcases character, academic excellence, outstanding teamwork and citizenship to serve as their school’s Dooley Award nominee.
