As we come to the end of the year, it’s a good time to review the Code for Living and to evaluate where we are. We think that it is important to be honest with ourselves on the ways in which we have grown and the ways in which we have not grown as much as we would have liked. Go over each tenet of the Code and try to think of examples of how each has been a part of your year. It’s important to do this deliberately; it would be best if each person could take out a piece of paper and write down the ways and instances in which each tenet has been tested. Where do these tenets challenge your habits and ways of acting and interacting with others? We want this week to be a week of reflection – not a week of goal setting. It’s tempting to want to set goals rather than take the time to do serious evaluation. Take time to think through how you’ve acted, reacted and the things you’ve said and done. Try to think of as many examples, both positive and negative, that you can. Also, what behaviors have you seen in others that you have admired? Do not set goals; take the time to learn more about yourself and to face the good and the less than your best!
